Kaoshiung is a great city located in South of Taiwan. Last semester (May 2010), I and my boyfriend went to Kaoshiung. From Taipei, we went to Tainan first then go to Kaoshiung. We went to Tainan by bus and took about 4 hours from Taipei Bus station. The ticket price is 220 NT (quite cheap for 4 hours journey). In Tainan I stayed for one night then went to Kaoshiung by train. The distance from Tainan to Kaoshiung is short, just 45 minutes by train and the ticket price is only 60 NT. Now I will only talk about Kaoshiung and next article about Tainan.Kaoshiung is the second largest city in Taipei. There are a lot of tourist spot you can visit. The main difference between Taipei and Kaoshiung is the weather. Kaoshiung is hotter than Taipei. That’s why Kaoshiung citizens look darker than Taipei citizens.
If you go to Kaoshiung, the first place you have to visit is Cijin Island. This island is very special and is separated by sea with Kaoshiung. So you have to use a ferry boat to go there. However, you don’t have to worry because the ticket price is only 15 NTD/person. Moreover, you can also bring your motorcycle or bicycle there. The island is not too big but it is very interesting because they have a special map that you can go over, so it’s just like a island treasure. If you do not have any bicycle or motorcycle, you can just borrow it. There are so many bicycle rental there.
The most beautiful and crowded spot there is Cijin beach. It has beautiful view. SO many people come there to enjoy the view and eat seafood. Cijin is very famous with its seafood, like roasted squid.
It is also famous with its big size ice. As you see in the picture, the ice is consisting of much different kind of fruit and the size is enough for 10 people. Since there are only two of us of course our stomach is not that big to eat it all. However, next time I should eat it.^_^v
